BE SMART. BE SUCCESSFUL.

Laziness and Procrastination are the juiciest fruits one can enjoy, because that always give (majority) of us the sense of enjoyment. Our generation is especially very lucky to have amazing and open minded parents, being
90`s kids we have enjoyed most of the simple, sweet and innocent things in childhood and then we grew up with every gadget right from the video game to current extravagant theme parks. We have seen the transition.

We have seen big queues in banks and now we are doing transactions of Lakhs of rupees in a jiffy, JUST ONE CLICK!

How all these changes did happen? Who is behind these technological miracles? How is that the vaccines that takes years to generate, in COVID-19, we are expecting to get within a year? How are we enjoying the non-contact deliveries without even stepping out of homes?

VISION ! VISION ! VISION! From few great visionaries, passionate people, Extraordinary minds…

But, does vision suffice? Will Laziness and Procrastination give us success? ---A BIG NO!
We need GOAL – to make things HAPPEN. To make CHANGE. To EVOLVE. To SUCCEED.
So, first thing is to understand how we can make and stick to the GOAL that is EFFECTIVE

Our GOAL should be SMART. It`s ULTIMATE PURPOSE is to get what you want.

The SMART criteria are a good rule to follow when deciding what goals you want to achieve. SMART stands for:

Specific: Your goal needs to be clear and well defined. Vague goals are not helpful because they don’t provide you with sufficient guidance and direction and in order to be helpful, you need to set goals that will show you the way to successfully achieving these goals.

Measurable: Include precise amounts or dates to your goal so you can measure your progress. You need to be able to quantify your progress or at least suggest an indicator of progress. For example, if your goal is to “reduce expenses”, how will you know if you have been successful? If you set your goals to reduce expenses by 1% in a month’s time, you will be able to see if you’ve reached that goal and celebrate once you’ve achieved it.

Attainable: You want to set goals that are challenging but also achievable. If you set a goal that you have no chance of achieving, it can erode your confidence. On the other hand, you don’t want to set a goal that’s too easy to achieve. You need to set goals that “raise the bar”, therefore once you achieve these goals that you had to really work towards, it’ll be worthwhile.

Relevance: Setting goals should be relevant to what it is you want to achieve in both your personal life and career life. By setting goals that are follow this rule will help you focus on what you need to do to get ahead and achieve this goal.

Time-related: You need to specify when you need to achieve this goal and set a deadline. When you are working on a deadline, your sense of urgency increases and it will push you closer towards achieving your goal.

For now, being an MBA student, my GOAL is to learn and enjoy as much as possible in  these 2 years of MBA life. The start is very amazing with Prof. T Prasad giving all of us the opportunity to reach out to you all, in the form of different tasks, ideas and challenges through the fantastic teaching style of BUSINESS COMMUNICATION. These might look like a difficult and tedious task…but, isn`t it the foundation of training ourselves to surmount our DEAREST GOAL?

Here are some great quotes to inspire you and get going…BEST LUCK!

"A goal is not always meant to be reached; it often serves simply as something to aim at." –Bruce Lee

"The trouble with not having a goal is that you can spend your life running up and down the field and never score." –Bill Copeland

A surprise session - Informative and Engaging - By Mr. Nikhil Kulkarni

A surprise session of ‘Business Communication’ with Mr. Nikhil Kulkarni – Co-founder Darwin Travel Tech  and Alumni of NITIE

Today`s session was focused on 2 important parameters – Consulting and Personal Branding.

Mr. Nkhil is a B. Tech graduate in Electronics & MBA from NITIE. He is a techie at heart – having pursued the whole gamut of IT Strategy to Project management, architecture and emerging technology consulting in his 11 years in KPMG. Being more of a DIY traveller himself, Nikhil encountered travel planning problems himself and reconnecting with Aditya realised the commonality of thought and ambition.

Nikhil quit KPMG as an Associate Director to co-found Darwin with Aditya and leads the technology end of things and is out there to pursue his ambition to create a global technology driven business out of India. In his personal life Nikhil is an avid blogger and crypto-currency, cleantech and Spacetech enthusiast.

Consulting:

Coming to the session, both are important aspects especially in today’s world. Consulting is one of the most preferred professions by most of the MBA candidates and it is equally challenging.

He shared useful insights regarding various tools that will help you as an consultant and how the workplace challenges make us evolve in terms of increasing productivity. It was interesting to hear how a consultant should align his thought process with their clients and other aspects.

Personal Branding:

‘Personal Branding’ has become inevitable to be successful in not only professional world but also in personal life. With increasing complexity of world and increasing competition, personal branding will definitely work as proof of our personality. This will help us on different front. Considering the aspirant`s point of view,  many recruiters will be more willing to hire you based n your brand rather than getting into other tedious process (although this works as a helping hand but surely help you stand out. ) We must focus on improving ourselves and equally on representing ourselves in proper manner.

I am  thankful to our Business Communication Prof. T. Prasad for giving this opportunity to hear directly from a person who has rich professional experience.

Thanks.

Feel free to comment and give feedback.

Lively and Energetic - Launch of Swadeshi Mandi 2020

As shared in the previous blog, here`s another one. We had a great launch event of ‘Swadeshi-mandi 2020’.

On the occasion of 74th Independence day, #MandiSir had arranged 2 webinars and it was pleasure listening to both prominent personalities in their respective areas.

  •  Shri Abhay Jere, who is the Chief Innovation Officer, Ministry of Education, GOI
  •  Ms Apeksha Haldia who is the Founder Zyka Ka Tadka, Alumni of NITIE, Mumbai

We thank Shri. Abhay Jere, sir for his valuable time and sharing his insights with us.

Jere sir emphasized that we being nation of 1.3 billion people, we do not actually lack ideas but the right approach. We only need a few of them to start a successful company. We also need to focus more on R&D in the country.

He advocated the Prime Minister’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, saying that we should become self reliant. It was the local products that helped us tide over the disruptions in the supply chains during the lock down. It was the local Kirana shops that kept delivering while the big giants failed to fulfill their orders, is evidence enough that in the race of development we should not leave local behind.

Being students and upcoming managers he advised us to be more vigilant, visionary and look at  the things in innovative way.

I would definitely like to quote honorable Mahatma Gandhi  here,

I would say that if the village perishes India will perish too. India will be no more India. Her own mission in the world will get lost. The revival of the village is possible only when it is no more exploited. Industrialization on a mass scale will necessarily lead to passive or active exploitation of the villagers as the problems of competition and marketing come in. Therefore we have to concentrate on the village being self-contained, manufacturing mainly for use. Provided this character of the village industry is maintained, there would be no objection to villagers using even the modern machines and tools that they can make and can afford to use. Only they should not be used as a means of exploitation of others.

- M. K. Gandhi

Therefore we should promote the use of local products. We should become more Vocal for Local. products. This will be a great boost to our artisans and small business owners. Our PM Modi's call for being #VocalForLocal is a call in the right direction. Along with that, with bigger vision we canlook  into and create even more opportunities.

We would need to show more entrepreneurship to achieve the target of 5 trillion dollar economy. India has a great business potential. We should use our young demography and catch hold of the opportunity while it lasts. It could really propel us to great economic growth.

Instead of being Job Seekers, we should become Job givers. This would boost our economy on one hand and will solve our unemployment problem on the other hand. For this we need to invest more on our physical and educational infrastructure.

Coming to ‘Zayeka ka Tadka’ fame Ms. Apeksha Haldia, it was very much energetic, lively and inspirational talk.

A LIVE Cooking Website which hosts cooking shows with moms. It is the only platform in this niche and is becoming very popular. It was started by Apeksha who is our super senior and her mother. This example shows us that nothing is impossible. All we need to do is to come up with an innovative idea and stick to it. Really inspiring story of Mother –Daughter duo setting an example

She earlier joined the prestigious company P&G, but later realized that having a start-up was her dream. So she quit that job to start this cooking platform.

A lot of entrepreneurship endeavors take place on campus. We even have a dedicated e-cell for it.

She described to us how idea can be generated. We just have to look around us, and think about what things can we change and improve. Observe-Plan-Act

We have seen countless examples where due to the Covid pandemic, the supply chains got disrupted. People took advantage of this and set up services to cater to the local demand. These people showed that an innovator’s mindset is very essential during the time of crisis.

She also emphasized that we should never stop dreaming. It was her dream to become an IPL manager. To a normal person it would seem a very far-fetched dream. But it needs courage to dream that big.

For her efforts, #MandiSir even called out that her mother is nothing less than a professor because she has taught and led countless persons. Being a housewife did not hold her back in any sense. She is a true example of women empowerment. She was constantly supported by her mother in all her endeavors. Her mother had once addressed a large crowd without any preparation just because she was interested and confident in what she was good at - cooking. This incident inspired the channel and rest is the history.

Our Swadeshi Mandi initiative is also geared to achieve that goal.

Various government efforts like the NEP 2020, setting up entrepreneurship cells throughout the country, Skill India mission are a step in the right direction.

The main take from both sessions is -how entrepreneurship is the new trend and how everyone should contribute towards making India more Atmanirbhar. Glad to have started even if with baby steps for now.

Thank you.

Vocal For Local -Through MAHAMANDI 2020!

 Happy Independence Day 2020 !

With new normal on it`s way, it`s time to change our attitude,we celebrate and show our patriotism.

And thus, with pride I say I am engaged in a noble cause, Vocal For Local. campaign as part of our learning MBA lessons ! We are exactly on the lines of PMs vision !
Swadeshi Mandi Campaign - Launching today..............................

Greetings from Marketing Interest Group (MiG) of National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE), Mumbai.

MAHAMANDI 2020, a trademark event of NITIE spearheaded by Team MIG (Marketing Interest Group), which serves as a unique platform for students to conceptualize and implement marketing strategies to contribute towards the society. At Mahamandi we host several activities to proliferate the socio-economic aspects of business by propagating handcraft toys and stationery made by underprivileged children. It gives the students a practical perspective of learning by selling in open markets. It also provides them an opportunity to apply the theory of consumer behavior and bring in all the management gyan to empower the lives of destitute children. Our mantra is “Socho Becho Seekho”.

Due to the unprecedented COVID pandemic things have definitely changed. On a national level, the pandemic had halted supply and value chains abruptly, bringing global production levels to a standstill. In an atmosphere of breeding uncertainty, small local businesses need more support than ever before, being one of the primary shock-bearers due to the pandemic.

In our own Honorable PM’s words,

“Local is not only necessity but also our responsibility. Time has taught us the importance of local and we have to live by this principle…..Every Indian should be vocal of local. Not only to buy local products but we also to promote them proudly”

Theme for this year - Swadeshi Mandi.

As a part of this event here`s our heartfelt contribution in this required 'Vocal for Local' - We are promoting the local cuisine and one of the delicacies 'Zunka-Bhakri' right from the AMRAVATI, MAHARSHTRA in the area known as 'Varhad'.....

Do give it a read and get to know more about it. It`s one of the amazing dish you will taste in Amravati.

Wish you good day !

Take care. Stay Safe.

'To Do or Not to Do'...That is the Question !

Are you an introvert?

Do you run away from social media as much as possible?

Are you unstoppable with your friends but utterly scared or lazy for getting out in public?

Oh wow, great to meet someone like me 😊

This is going to be heart to heart conversation then….

I have entered into one of India`s prestigious institute - NITIE, Mumbai, this year and it`s quite exciting. But, so many restrictions, lock down is getting tough now, so you also need some fresh air??

Let`s visit this lush green – God`s own campus – NITIE, Mumbai!

That`s great isn`t it…

I was thrilled and getting comfortable in my own dreams of visiting and being there. But, that`s definitely a postponed plan for now.

AND...the current challenge is altogether different…Friends, I am challenged to go out (not in lock down though)…to speak up…to show up…

How am I going to do it?

Here comes the great subject - Business Communication- utterly uncomfortable for me but equally tantalizing.

'TO DO OR NOT TO DO'...THAT IS THE QUESTION!

But, what if you get an amazing opportunity to try your hand on something special, something grand….something out of the box, all practical – no theory …..

Will you be willing to do that?

From my side…it`s a definite Yes. A little bit discomfort will be worth it. There are so many new friends here, on this new journey, that I am sure it`s going to be thrilling.

This is my new venture, choosing discomfort for greater good. I am looking forward to the exciting tasks on its way…

Will share that soon!

Till then Have a good time & Take Care !
